The biggest disruptive event in your lifetime has already started and you need to pay attention to it as this will affect every single aspect of your life and the future of your job , you, your family, your finances and even the urban community you live in. It will also offer numerous opportunities for those who are smart enough to see them
Major advances in technologies and cost reductions related to Energy, Transport, Food, Materials, Robotics and Medicine combined with the rapidly increasing power and capabilities of Artificial Intelligence (AI ) is going to deliver what was previously thought to be impossible within our lifetimes. These changes/developments are happening now and are going to have implications for every single aspect of our lives . They will destroy some industries and allow new industries to emerge and flourish offering enormous opportunities to re imagine and re organise everything. This paper will outline the expected impacts of the AI and technological revolution that is now underway so participants can see how these major changes could be harnessed for themselves and their families and also to create greener, more attractive and more liveable cities
How can AI be applied to make safer, better, more liveable local communities
Urbanization is accelerating at an unprecedented rate, bringing with it complex challenges in transportation, public safety, road space utilization and community design. Artificial intelligence (AI) is emerging as a transformative force, offering innovative solutions to optimize urban management. This paper explores how AI applications and opportunities arising from recent technological disruptions could be harnessed by city administrations to create safer and more attractive urban environments in their local communities. However, this requires city administrations and officers to have awareness of the huge technological changes and upheavals now underway worldwide and the growing range of opportunities that are now feasible because of these developments. AI and new technologies offer many opportunities for city administrations to better serve their communities and to create better , more efficient , more liveable cities as advocated in United Nations SDG 11 . In order to illustrate what is now possible, this paper outlines the many ways that such technological disruptions could be harnessed by city administrations and highlights real life examples where AI is already being being used in cities around the world to create safer urban areas.
